Non-Profit Grant for Noble and Meaningful Purpose

Non-Profit Grant for Noble and Meaningful Purpose

A non-profit grant is specifically designed to meet the financial needs of organizations involved in making a difference. Through the years, it has become an important source to empower and develop communities around the world.
A grant is not a loan or "free money" but rather a financial assistance given only for specific organizational projects that have a definite goal and mission, or programs that share similar interests. This type of funding is normally for large-scale projects. The amount of money can be either large or small depending on the award program or the project itself.
Funding sources
The federal government is one of the biggest sources of funding. In fact, it has a lot of grant programs to choose from. Most of all, it is highly competitive.
To look for federal grants, one may go to Grants.gov and start searching by category, agency, or keyword. Avoid wasting time by reading carefully the application guidelines and processes, including eligibility and restrictions.
There are programs that offer funding for Information Technology and green technology. Such programs are fitting for non-profit organizations that engage in digital innovation or energy processing, respectively.
On the other hand, there are individuals and companies earning millions of dollars. Instead of donating to charities and non-profit organizations, they rather give funds to private foundations or set up foundations in their names.
Writing process
Preparing a proposal for a non-profit grant along with the application may take some weeks or even months to complete. Essential facts need to be obtained and prospective plans and projects need to be determined. Some programs even require intensive research and preparation, including writing lengthy essays, reports, and other documents.
As fund seeker, you should make your application professionally written and presented, with clear and updated information about your non-profit organization. Demonstrate your organization's knowledge and grasp of the problems or conditions it intends to resolve. It should explain how target beneficiaries or the community as a whole will benefit from the proposed plan or project.
Make it a point to create and incorporate tables, charts, and other graphical presentations into the proposal. If your organization is proposing to build a day care center, you must be able to show how many children will benefit from it. Cite studies that show how similar programs or projects have achieved their expected results.
Take note of the deadline of submissions and other dates related to the program. Most federal funding opportunities follow strict schedules, so make sure to submit ahead of or on time. Don't forget to track down your application status.
Funding programs usually do not cover the total expenditures for a certain project, so it will be best to request funding for at least 85 percent of the total costs.
Most importantly, a proposal for a non-profit grant should be one of its kind in the target location, and should convince the prospective funding source that the expenses listed are, indeed, necessary.
